Site updates, gaming talk, useless information and at times just plain wrong…

Internet Explorer (Grrr) and iTunes (FTW)

February 23rd, 2010 by Shane

Yet again the dreaded application that is Internet Explorer has been giving me headaches, the site has been simply broken for many of you for the last couple of days, sorry about that *warning geek talk incoming* it appears that a misconfiguration in my site editor was adding attributes to embed code for things like the Youtube videos I use for site news, this broke the site, the code was undecipherable to the browser so it threw out errors and refused to load the website, however yet again, Firefox and Chrome had no such issues…

Anyway I’ve fixed the problem (the video in question this time was the new Alan Wake footage, that is awesome by the way, go check it now it works!) so I hope I haven’t lost too many visitors due to this. I should have been on top of it though so there are no excuses all I can do is apologise, sorry.

I’ve just added my review of Bioshock 2 to the site that took a lot longer than I anticipated due to the above grief, so go check it out if you need yet more convincing to play it.

I’d like to add I’ve now chosen to use the Quicktime player to play the podcasts from within the site, if you get asked to install a plugin trust me its totally safe, Quicktime is a player like flash that will help you browse other sites as well and is recommended.

I chose this player as once its loaded you can pull the progress bar up and down if you miss a bit or want to skip through at your leisure, this isn’t available with other players. However with every podcast there is a download link beneath each one that you can right click and save the mp3 file to your computer to do what you want with.

I’d also like to state that our podcasts are now available on the iTunes store, click here to go see us on there, please if you use the service, leave us a rating and/or a comment, we’d really appreciate it!

Oh, before I go I am aware of the issue in the reviews section whereby the same thumbnails repeat down the page, yes they used to all be random and look a lot better, but since upgrading my server platform to php 5 from 4 this issue has shown itself, I am working on it.

Laters.
